Citrus and Beef

This past week I had the pleasure of temporarily leaving my job behind and heading to the land of blue hairs. That's right, I was in fabulous Southern Florida. I put 1000 miles on my rental and saw a lot of shit. Sadly I didn't take pictures of everything that I wanted to, but that's how it goes.

Holy Ice Batman...

If you haven't heard we had a bit of an ice storm here in New England. Worcester County got slammed pretty badly and there are many people (including myself) who still don't have power at their homes 4 days after the storm. Rumor has it that it may be another 10 days for some people. It's pretty amazing the damage that some frozen water and wind can do. The picture is courtesy of my friend Ryan Gravelle.

Holy Fucking Knuck!

A chap from Pheonix, AZ who goes by the handle chorro on the Jockey Journal is finishing up his build of this beautiful 1945 Harley Davidson Knucklehead. This thing was too bad ass not too share. Hop on over to JJ and check out the rest of the pics. You won't regret it. http://www.jockeyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43350

MY Low and Slow bitches.

So today is right around the 2 year anniversary of me owning my single cab and I realized that I've mentioned it a few times in this blog, but haven't really shared much in the way of specifics on it. I figured I might as well do that now just in case anyone is actually reading my drivel. The truck in a 1963 Volkswagen Type 2 Single Cab. It has the dual treasure chest door option and is mostly solid where it matters. My plan is "low and slow". I'll be getting the 1500cc powerplant going and smacking this thing on it's ass. I'll be running a 4" narrowed, adjustable beam in the front with 2.5" drop spindles and ghia disc brakes. I'll be running ghia steelies with 165/50/15 Federal Formosa tires. In the rear I'll be using a complete '67 Beetle tranny (drum to drum) with offset spring plates. I'll be using stock steelies, but I'm unsure as to what tire size I'll be going with - probably a 185 or 190. We shall see. Other than that I'll just be redoing the braking system and patching up the major rot. I want to be able to throw my Trump on the back, too so I'll be making some sort of a tie-down system. It'll get done when it gets done.

The snow, it's a-coming!

Watched the news this morning - we're supposed to get our first accumulation of snow this weekend. It's great and all, but it makes me a little bummed, too. I no longer have a garage to work on my single cab. It's sitting tarped on some family property. The beginning of snow means the beginning of it getting buried for the winter. I really want to get this thing on the road in '09. Let's hope I can make it happen, but between a lack of money and a lack of a place to work on it, this may be difficult. Donations to the Matt Isgro Single Cab Finishing Fund will be gladly accepted. You know you want to. Operators are standing by.

Holy Shit it's December

Where the hell has 2008 gone? Seriously, it's December 2nd and I feel like this year just started. Really though, I'm happy that this year is coming to an end. The shit economy has effected my family more than I had feared and the elections went the way I didn't want them to go. 2008 has been a year of disappointment. Sure there are a couple of cool things that happened this year (the purchase of my bike for one), but overall it sucked. I look to 2009 as a year of change. Not Obama bullshit change, but legitimate personal change for the better. A more positive outlook, more motivation to get where I want to be and more happiness. At least I've got the ski season in the short term. That should get me some smiles. Here's to hoping that things can get better for everyone.

Low and slow.

I have a '63 Type 2 Single Cab that I've been working on intermittently for the past 2 or so years. Progress usually stops when I don't have the cash, a place to work on it or I just lose my motivation. Shots of air cooleds like this one give me a kick in the ass to get mine done. It's too bad that I don't the money or a good place to work on it. Fuck.

Enjoy the pic anyway.
